This ceramic wall decoration is representative of the brutalist style of the 1970s. Composed of assembled tiles, it features an abstract and graphic central motif, highlighted by a very expressive treatment of the material. The thick glazes, in shades of brown, cream, and red, evoke the so-called fat lava technique, characterised by volcanic, grainy, and highly textured surfaces. Probably made in Belgium, possibly in the Dour region, this piece is part of the great tradition of 1970s wall ceramics, where decorative art interacts with architecture and sculpture. The whole exudes a strong and sculptural presence, ideal for dressing a wall and structuring a contemporary or vintage interior.
