2 x original secessionist armchairs, attributed design: Marcel Kammerer (Vienna, c. 1910), manufacturer: Mundus (Vienna, c. 1910)

These elegant secessionist bentwood armchairs (marked Mundus) reflect the design language of Marcel Kammerer, who, as a student of Otto Wagner, took over the management of the Thonet design office between 1905-1911. They can be seen as a symbiosis/luxury version of the two catalogued series models 6522 & 6528, which also originated under Kammerer's direction for Gebrüder Thonet around 1909 and were first depicted in the same year in the 'Central Anzeiger, Volume 26' (model 6522). This model was also used for the interior of Otto Wagner's second villa in Hütteldorf, highlighting the close relationship between teacher and student. Two years later, model 6528 appeared in the 'Central Anzeiger, Volume 31' – it is considered one of the last (if not the last) models by Kammerer as chief designer of Gebrüder Thonet before architect Otto Prutscher took over the design office in 1911. To date, these two armchairs have not been found in any catalogue, which speaks for their rarity. Delivery nationally/internationally possible at extra cost.
