An important pair of Amsterdam School armchairs made of solid walnut, dating from the interwar period. The maker is unknown, but the design features the sculptural qualities typical of the Amsterdam School movement, blending furniture and architecture. The chairs have substantial walnut frames, vertical slatted side panels, broad armrests, and deep structural frames. Their cubic silhouette reflects the influence of architects and designers like Michel de Klerk, Piet Kramer, and Genneper Molen. Notable features include distinctive ball feet and carved decorative elements on the front supports, giving the chairs an expressive quality. The original patterned upholstery, a vibrant textile from the late 1920s and 1930s, contrasts with the geometric walnut frames, enhancing the Amsterdam School character.
