An Icon of Art Nouveau – Original Tub Chairs by Josef Hoffmann

A unique and exceptionally stylish set of four lounge/office chairs designed by a master of the Viennese Secession, Josef Hoffmann. Dating back to the early 20th century, these chairs represent an absolute classic of global design. Pieces of this kind were manufactured by the prestigious bentwood furniture firm, Jacob & Josef Kohn. The semi-circular backrest transitions seamlessly into armrests, which are filled with a series of closely spaced vertical spindles. Beneath the seat, one finds characteristic wooden spheres—an iconic decorative and structural element that serves as a hallmark of the designer’s work. The seat and back cushion are upholstered in a decorative fabric, finished with an ornamental cord trim. The chairs are in good vintage condition. The structure is stable and shows natural signs of age; the upholstery is free of any wear or stains. The chairs are signed.
