Elegant and original tripod side table with a triangular shape, made in the early 20th century by the prestigious cabinetmaking house of André Mailfert in Orléans. This piece of furniture, crafted from fruitwood with a warm patina, rests on three slender curved legs inspired by Louis XV, finished with discreet sabot feet. Its scalloped apron conceals a superb functionality: a removable writing slide activated by its original bronze pull ring. This slide is entirely covered in period tawny leather, enhanced around its edge with a delicate geometric frieze and golden corner florets. Authenticity guaranteed: The piece bears beneath its top the famous and sought-after circular hot-stamped mark of the salamander, an inseparable signature of this genius cabinetmaker, renowned for creating the most perfect illusions of 18th-century furniture. Thanks to its compact proportions and atypical silhouette, it will easily find its place as a side table, end table, or trumeau piece, adding undeniable historical charm to a classic or contemporary interior. Very good overall condition, the top has slightly warped over time, revealing a gap between it and the apron of the furniture at the back.
