Model 020 sofa by Kho Liang Ie for Artifort, 1950s

This rare sofa is a design by kho liang ie for the company of artifort. Kho liang ie joined artifort in 1958 as estethic advisor. The 020 model was designed in 1958 and was a turning point for artifort in their designs and was a representation of artiforts new design philosophy. This can be considered as their first modernist design and for many to follow. The frame is constructed by connecting the legs with the horizontal black metal parts and the upper horizontal chrome part on the back. The structure is very visible in this design as well as how the seat is put onto the frame. Period: 1950s. Condition: excellent.
