Oil on canvas. Northern European school, mid-19th century. In a lush countryside landscape, near the well with its trough, several peasants and travellers stop with their carts, rest, take water, and wash laundry. Previously restored and relined in an old style, the painting currently shows damage and slight losses of pictorial material. It is presented in a beautiful gilded frame from the late 19th century.
