Modernist ceramic wall panel by J.G. Picard, Vallauris, 1960s.

Ceramic wall panel signed J.G. Picard, Vallauris, France, circa 1960. Composed of eight glazed ceramic tiles assembled in a fine wooden frame, the panel features a particularly graphic stylised composition in deep blue, black, white, and red tones. The decoration reveals a highly stylised figure reminiscent of a bird or rooster, drawn in broad black lines against a blue and white background with beautiful material effects. The variations and cracks in the glaze add significant depth to the surface. The wooden frame contrasts subtly with the colours and texture of the ceramic, allowing the piece to be presented directly as a wall artwork. Signed J.G. Picard in the bottom right. A very fine example of post-war French decorative ceramics and the production of Vallauris. In good vintage condition. Variations, cracks, and natural irregularities in the glaze due to the manufacturing technique. Light patina and signs of age on the wooden frame.
