Roland schweitzer (15 october 1925– 7 august 2018) was a french architect and urban planner. Former student of auguste perret and jean prouvé, graduated in 1953. A specialist in wooden architecture and its history, particularly in japan, his approach to architecture advocates ecological and solidarity values. He is one of the pioneers of the revival of wooden architecture in france. He was influenced by scandinavian architecture, including that of alvar aalto, and by traditional and modern japanese architecture, including that of sakakura, himself a disciple of le corbusier. He seeks in his achievements a harmony with the site, a fluidity of circulations, games of transparency and the lightness of the structures. His main building materials are glass, raw concrete and wood, of which he is a world-renowned specialist.
