Superb ensemble of Orientalist art from the early 20th century. This is an original watercolour depicting a peaceful landscape of the Nile, animated with feluccas and palm trees, signed in the bottom right by the British Orientalist painter Henry Samuel Lynton and dated 1906. THE EXCEPTIONAL CASE: The work is presented in its original Ottoman/Syrian period frame. It is a remarkable handcrafted piece in finely carved wood, decorated with openwork mashrabiya, richly inlaid with mother-of-pearl and geometric inlays. This ensemble offers a spectacular wall presence and a touch of Oriental elegance with great poetry, ideal for a classic, contemporary, or curiosity cabinet style interior. Condition: Very good used condition for its age (1906). Beautiful original patina of the frame and preserved colours. (Note some missing mother-of-pearl if present).
