Very beautiful glazed stoneware pitcher, probably from the workshops of La Borne, in Cher. This piece features an elegant baluster silhouette, with a generously rounded body, a narrow neck, and a slightly pinched opening forming a spout. A side handle with soft lines completes this harmonious composition. Its particularly successful glazing combines a slightly bluish cream white, finely speckled, with a deep brown on the lower part. The latter is adorned with incised curved lines, creating a sober and elegant graphic decoration. The variations in texture, firing effects, and contrasts between the glazed surfaces testify to a beautiful ceramic research work. La Borne, a pottery village in Berry, is one of the major historical centers of French stoneware. Throughout the 20th century, many ceramists settled there and contributed to the revival of contemporary ceramics, particularly through their research on glazes, forms, and wood firings. The piece bears a circular stamp with a stylized monogram under its base. An attribution to Steen Kepp, a ceramist who worked in La Borne, is considered but remains to be confirmed. A beautiful collectible piece, both decorative and representative of the aesthetics of workshop stoneware from the second half of the 20th century. Dimensions: Height: 21 cm. Diameter: 13 cm. Length: 16 cm. Condition: perfect condition. Signature: circular stamp under the base, to be identified.
