Large terrestrial globe published by Cartes Taride (Paris) in collaboration with Philips’ Challenge Globes (London), dated 1960. A beautiful decorative piece with authentic charm, featuring its silver aluminium base typical of the 1950s-1960s. Its generous diameter of 35 cm gives it a remarkable presence on a desk, bookshelf, or console. The period cartography retains the old geopolitical names and the routes of maritime and air travel, witnesses to a world that has now disappeared. In good vintage condition, with visible patina of time, some cracks, slight losses, and slightly warped areas (see photos). Diameter 35 cm, base diameter 24 cm, total height approximately 40 cm. Cartes Taride was among the major French references in 20th-century cartography, their globes being sought after for their graphic quality and historical interest. Graphic design and retro elegance, perfectly in line with the vintage decor trend. An ideal globe for fans of industrial and mid-century decor.
