Amazing ‘action office’ tambour desk by george nelson and robert propst for herman miller, us, 1960s. ‘george nelson was an american industrial designer. While lead designer for the herman miller furniture company, nelson and his design studio, george nelson associates, designed 20th-century modernist furniture. He is considered a founder of american modernist design.’ This desk is the smaller or the 'ladies'version of the ‘action office’ series. The desk has a beautiful solid walnut sliding tambour top, that reveals a white laminate writing surface. The design has two hidden drawers, which can be used to store writing equipment. The desk rests on a large cast aluminum base, painted in an original grey colour. This design treasure has been restored and is therefore is in overall magnificent condition.
