Laurent BUFFAT – Rectangular ceramic trivet, geometric abstract composition. A signed workshop piece, at the intersection of art and tableware. Laurent BUFFAT is a French visual artist and creator, and the son of Bernard BUFFAT (ceramicist and Best Craftsman of France). Immersed in this world from a young age, he developed a passion for drawing and working with materials early on. He practiced his art primarily through clay and ceramics for a long time. Since 2015, he has dedicated himself exclusively to painting. He is particularly recognized for his mixed media works, especially on canvas and brushed aluminum, exploring a variety of themes ranging from abstract to figurative (animals, portraits, symbolic landscapes like the tree of life) and regularly exhibits his artistic creations in galleries. Laurent BUFFAT signs here a trivet that resembles a miniature painting. On a finely speckled white enamel background, a soft green hill supports three suspended spheres, highlighted with sienna, brick, and black lines. The projections of red, yellow, and green pigments give the composition pictorial depth, straddling the line between a dreamed landscape and geometric purity. This piece can be placed on a table, but it also finds its place hung or on a shelf, like a small ceramic painting.
