Superb decorative collection plate in majolica ceramic, made in Deruta (Umbria, Italy) during the first half of the 20th century (1930-1940). This piece of art bears the signature of the great Italian ceramic master Giuseppe Cassetta, created before his permanent installation on the Amalfi Coast in 1944. This plate showcases a high level of craftsmanship combining two traditional techniques: The Graffito technique: The white outlines of the decoration are entirely incised with a point into the slip, revealing the underlying terracotta with remarkable precision. The hand-painted decoration: An intense and vibrant cobalt blue background, enhanced with burnt orange pigments. The centre features a stylised and winged heraldic motif, framed by sinuous waves of flames. The tesa (the rim) has a wavy and baccellé profile, richly adorned with garlands and petals. No cracks or missing parts.
