Melonniere in fine polychrome earthenware from Gien Italian Renaissance decor “Diane au bain”, late 19th century. In 1875, the Gien factory launched a decor that would make its worldwide success, in the style of Italian majolica, the so-called “Renaissance” decor. Old decorative dish with handles intended to present the melon but which could serve as a large dish or basket. Signature stamp with interlaced letters on the reverse. Mark in hollow monogram “ra” (which seems to be the signature of the decorator) Diameter (without the handles) 27cm / total length with the handles 36cm / height 8.5cm. Weight 400g. Very good condition despite the wear of time: bright and unaltered colors. Note some small chips around the edge and a small impact / chip (see last photo).
