Ancient tapestry in cross-stitch and mixed techniques: "The Harvest"

Bring a touch of antique charm from the Belle Époque to your interior with this magnificent hand-embroidered panel dated 1909. Entitled "The Harvest, " this work depicts a beautifully detailed pastoral scene featuring a mother and her two children gathering sheaves of wheat, all framed by a garland of poppies, cornflowers, and ears of wheat, typical of this season. The piece is signed and dated by the embroiderer: Marie Lebesle, 1909. This piece employs a mixed technique. The main body of the work is meticulously hand-stitched, while the fine features of the faces, hands, and arms have been created using a fine fabric that is either painted or hand-printed; these have been glued directly onto the canvas and then top-stitched. The reverse of the canvas shows the details of the stitching and proves that it was entirely made by hand and not by machine. The canvas is over 110 years old and is in good vintage condition. The colours have remained vibrant. The young boy's hand slightly lifts from the canvas where the glue has come unstuck over the years, but it does not fall. A few stitches are missing from the borders; please refer to the photos for the exact extent. The canvas has clearly been stretched and framed at some point, as evidenced by the visible marks on the edges. The canvas would be stunning if re-framed.
