B3 Wassily club chair designed by Marcel Breuer

Stahlclubsessel B3 armchair known as Wassily, produced in Italy by Bononia (Gavina) between 1962 and 1968, with its original label. This is therefore an authentic armchair from the 1960s and not a recent copy or even a reissue by Knoll, which bought Gavina in 1968. The chrome is pitted in places and the upper leather of the backrest is a little worn, which is normal for an armchair of this age. Fully functional and original. Marcel Breuer was inspired by the handlebars of a bicycle. Between 1925 and 1928, Marcel Breuer ran the carpentry workshop at the Bauhaus school in Dessau. He quickly turned to industrial materials such as steel tubing. For his prototype, Breuer called on a plumber and used a very durable cotton canvas for the upholstery. Designed for the painter Wassily Kandinsky, this armchair inaugurated the production of industrial furniture and its standardization.
