Antique Louis XV style flat desk painted with stool.

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent flat desk in French Louis XV style, painted circa 1880-1900, accompanied by a later stool. The desk is a beautiful example from the late 19th century made of solid mahogany, with great sturdiness, particularly due to its oversized solid brass fittings that adorn the desk, including a brass border around the top. The paint has aged beautifully. The stool, although more recent, fits perfectly and is very comfortable with two large side rails for easy access. The condition is perfect for its age, with light cleaning, waxed and polished. The desk shows an honest patina due to its true age. Desk dimensions: height 77 cm, width 130 cm, depth 68 cm. Stool dimensions: height 67.5 cm (seat height 46 cm), width 80 cm, depth 45.5 cm. This item is available for collection at the Pulborough warehouse. The period leather shows natural patina and creases, annual maintenance by polishing is recommended, and it is advised not to expose the hand-dyed leather to prolonged direct sunlight to avoid drying and discolouration.
