Buffet Renaissance Representing The Four Seasons Circa 1580 - France

Superb and rare Renaissance-style buffet in walnut from the late 16th century, representing the four seasons, opening with four doors and two drawers at the front. The doors feature very beautiful carved decorations depicting the allegories of the four seasons, surrounded by floral sculptures with a woman at their centre. A very fine piece of furniture of superb quality, with a carved cornice featuring a coat of arms topped with a crown at its centre. After research, the coat of arms is believed to be from the Burgundy region, and the crown is thought to be a marquis's crown. Panelled sides. A very beautiful piece of furniture in superb museum-quality condition.
