Robert Picault is one of the ceramicists associated with the revival of Vallauris in the mid-20th century. His work is distinguished by graphic decorations, often featuring animals, treated with great freedom of line. His pieces, both simple and expressive, reflect the vibrant spirit of Vallauris ceramics from the 1950s. This plate features a stylised fish design, drawn in emerald green, brown, and beige tones on a lightly crackled light background. The motif, very graphic, plays with dynamic lines, marked fins, and a geometric body, giving the piece a beautiful decorative presence. The green border harmoniously frames the composition and reinforces the typical character of Vallauris productions. A charming piece, representative of Picault's taste for stylised marine decorations. In its used condition, it shows signs of wear. A micro crack. Dimensions: Diameter: 21cm. Signed RP.
