"Utrecht" armchairs by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld for Cassina, wool and steel, Netherlands, The designer had the idea for the "Up&Upne" armchair in 1935 while working for the Metz & Co. department store in Amsterdam. His goal was to make a chair for mass production, but he also wanted to prioritize a comfortable and relaxing seating experience. The chair became an icon of the neoplastic movement and Rietveld's experimental vision. Needlework details further enrich Lincoln's original wool tapestry.
