The Getsuen 'Lily' chair was designed by celebrated Japanese designer Masanori Umeda in 1990 and produced by Edra, Italy. An extraordinary example of poetic modernism, the chair takes its sculptural form from a blooming lily flower, combining organic beauty with a playful and distinctive silhouette. The five petal-like projections create its characteristic biomorphic shape, while the generous proportions provide a comfortable and enveloping seat. Originally finished in Alcantara and supported by a steel structure, this example has been reupholstered in soft Teddy fabric, giving the iconic design a fresh and tactile character. A hallmark of late 20th-century radical design, the Getsuen 'Lily' remains one of Umeda’s most recognizable creations and a striking statement piece for contemporary, eclectic and design-focused interiors.
