Vallerysthal antique vase in blown turquoise opaline with twisted ribs.
This superb antique vase is made of blue opaline glass, blown by mouth. It dates from the late 19th century and shows the mark of the blowing cane. This vase comes from a glass and opaline factory such as Meisenthal, Vallerysthal, or Portieux. These collectible items are called "fair opalines": dating from the late 19th century or very early 20th century, these opalines made of pressed-moulded glass were sold at fairs or popular markets. The shape is delicate, beautifully flared at the neck with a wavy collar. This vase is made of turquoise opaline glass moulded with fine twisted ribs. Dimensions: approximately 18.5 X 10 cm. In generally good condition, I note scratches at the base and a deposit inside the vase.
