Monastery table form the jerusalem-monastery venray - solid oak - restored. Netherlands, 19th century. A unique and very rare monastery table in solid oak with a centuries old maintained nice patina and large top. The table came from the jerusalem-monastery in venray (netherlands); an order of nuns for girls from wealthy catholic families. The table rest on a extraordinairy carved feet with both functional- aswell functional horizontal collumns. The table has been restored with the credo to keep it as authentic as possible. The table top consists of 3 solid oak planks with a wideness of 2cm. Between 2 planks there was a gap, filled with dried up wax wich was disolving. We completely restored it with the same wax technique. At the top there are patina we deliberatly conserved. See the many pictures of proof this table was used to its largest with its unique signs of use. The top is finished with a pu-laquer. The monastery is dissolved in 1970. This table is purchased directly from the monastery. Imagine all the stories being told around this item for ages. A beatifull preserved piece of history. H 75 X w 180 X d 90 cm. Aprox 80kg.
