Large beige ceramic teapot. Ideal for about six cups. Signed by the ceramist Volkoff. In excellent condition. Voldemar Volkoff was born to Russian immigrant parents; he apprenticed in ceramics in Montpellier, and obtained his CAP (vocational certificate) in ceramism in 1950. From 1952 to 1954, he worked in various workshops in Biot and Antibes. From 1956 to 1959, he was a turner in a pottery in Juan les Pins. Then, from 1960, in Vallauris in the workshops of Capron, Anasse, Meynard, Portanier, Reynaud… It was in 1967 that he set up as an artisan potter. He participated in the Biennales of 1970 and 1972, then exhibited in France and around the world. And was part of the Quartz group in 1994. His works are powerful and original; he often uses muted tones of brown.
