This rare ceramic bowl is part of the "Athene" series designed by Anna-Lisa Thomson for Upsala Ekeby, produced between 1950 and 1953. It features a mermaid motif with flowing hair, a fish, and large leaves. The bowl has a graceful, curved shape and is finished with a stunning blue hare fur glaze, showcasing varying hues from light to dark blue. The rim flows elegantly, enhancing its artistic appeal. Stamped on the underside are the marks "1038, " "A.L.T., " and "UE." The "Athene" series includes 16 earthenware bowls and vases, known for their surrealistic motifs and gently swelling forms. Anna-Lisa Thomson (1905–1952) was a prominent designer for Upsala Ekeby, and her work remains highly regarded in the world of ceramics.
