Hans-Agne Jakobsson, Swedish slatted light

Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009) is one of the great Swedish lighting designers of the 20th century. Trained at Wahlbecks in Sweden, he founded his own manufactory in Markaryd, in the south of the country, in 1951 and developed for three decades an inimitable signature: pendants and lamps made of lacquered or natural pine slats, diffusing a warm filtered light. These lights with flower, pine cone or crown silhouettes equipped Swedish interiors in the 60s and 70s, and are now sought-after references of Scandinavian lighting design.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson pendants and lamps in pine slats, particularly the Tulpan models and Ellysett series, remain the designer's most identifiable pieces. Scandinavian vintage lighting to find for those wanting Nordic light with a strong character.
