Hans Agne Jakobsson B99 Table Lamp. Circa 1960. Rare table lamp designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson in the 1960s and produced by Markaryd AB in Sweden. The lamp is made of solid brass and bears the artist's marking with the model number. Overall good condition. Dimensions: Height: 50 cm / Diameter: 21 cm. About the designer: Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a Swedish designer specialising in lighting, known for redefining the role of lamps as creators of atmosphere rather than mere sources of light. Active primarily from the 1950s to the 1970s, he is closely associated with Scandinavian modernism, emphasising warmth, materiality, and visual comfort. Jakobsson frequently used materials such as fine sheets of wood, brass, and soft diffusers to create fixtures that eliminated glare and produced a soft, enveloping light, in contrast to the harsher functional lighting of the time. Through his company AB Ellysett, he developed models that were both sculptural and accessible, combining craftsmanship with modern production. Today, his creations are highly sought after and often reissued, valued for their timelessness and their influence on how designers perceive light as an emotional and spatial experience, beyond its simple technical function.
