Hand carved wooden tripod stool from the hehe or gogo people, tanzania. This stool is carved from a single solid piece of hard wood, including the legs! At the bottom the three legs come together like the arches of a cathedral. These three legged chairs were commonly used as milking stools, however every chair was different. Dish shaped circular top. Condition report: decent to good overall vintage condition, very sturdy. Cracks, chips and heavy signs of use everywhere. Dark patina from longterm use. Some cracks have been sealed with some kind of dark organic substance. Markings on the rim: "w" "|x|" and "\\\\\" which could be owernship and year markings.
