When architects do furniture... ... it can go both ways: 1) the design becomes a classic – thinking Mart Stam, the Eames, Le Corbusier, and so many others. 2) nothing but a prototype. Like in the case of this crazy design of a Karlsruhe-based architect: a three-legged chair, back- and armrests made from one piece. So far, so good. Rather traditional. But underneath, it's getting experimental: the ergonomically curved seat from bright blue lacquered wood is suspended on four coated springs and floats above curvate stainless steel struts. Our guess is that with the instable seat you will stay in motion, which is good for the back, like on a sitting ball. Anyway: kind of thrilling. At least too interesting to leave it behind. For more static seaters, this characterful chair is at least a one-of-a-kind statement piece. Good general condition with slight traces of usage.
