Large vintage deep plate serving as a platter, in white Digoin earthenware. This Janine model is adorned with beautiful roses and an elegant rim decorated with wavy blue lines. Stamped with: “- Janine -Digoin – Sarreguemines – France”, 1930s/40s. Whether for special occasions or everyday meals, this dish will be a real treat for the eyes and taste buds to serve your dishes during your gourmet moments. The Faïencerie de Digoin-Sarreguemines, founded in 1875 by Jules Chagnaud, was one of the leading ceramic manufacturers in France. After a merger in 1919 with the Manufacture de Sarreguemines, the company became famous for its earthenware tableware and decorative objects. Sadly, the earthenware factory closed in 2008, but its legacy lives on through its pieces prized by our collectors. Very good condition overall. I note a production defect, the ceramic is "grated" over a few cm as if it had suffered damage before firing. It is very superficial and does not detract from the charm of this centenarian. When you love objects with a lived experience, you easily accept their small defects 😘.
