Large vintage West Germany vase, 1960s

Height: 41 cm. Diameter: 22 cm. Origin: Germany, 1950s. Material: Ceramic. After the war, Germany developed a rapidly growing economy. There were large factories with many employees and machines and there was place to set up long production lines with ovens. This allowed large series of ceramics to be made. As the economy developed strongly and as a result, more money became available, designers were given more room for their own input and they began to experiment with their designs and techniques. The liquid white or colored clay was placed in molds, after which it hardened. The designers then applied all kinds of glazes, which many different types of colors and appearances.
