Very beautiful glazed stoneware vase signed Primavera, made in the workshop of Eugène Lion, in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye. This piece features an elegant pear-shaped silhouette, with a generously rounded body tapering towards a short neck with a slightly flared lip. Its harmonious proportions and the simplicity of its lines give it a beautiful decorative presence. Its particularly subtle glazing combines shades of olive green, khaki, and brown, with delicate drip effects and overlays. The surface, finely nuanced and slightly satin, reveals the richness of high-fire glaze work. Eugène Lion (1867-1945) is one of the major figures of the Jean Carriès School and the revival of artistic stoneware from Puisaye. Coming from an old family of potters from Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, he played an essential role in Jean Carriès' ceramic research at the end of the 19th century. He then developed a personal production recognized for the quality of its glazes, its refined shapes, and its Japonisme influences. His workshop continued its activity after his death, notably with his son Pierre Lion. Primavera, the art workshop of the Parisian department store Le Printemps, has been involved since 1912 in the development of modern decorative arts by calling on artists and manufacturers to produce objects that combine aesthetic research and artisanal know-how. Eugène Lion and the family workshop are referenced in the book "Grès de Puisaye, de Jean Carriès à nos jours – Marques et signatures, " dedicated to the potters and ceramists of the region. Dimensions: Height: 24 cm. Diameter: 11 cm. Condition: perfect condition. Signature: Primavera.
