SAINT-LOUIS Metra Carafe in double-layered cobalt blue crystal – liqueur H31.5cm

This sublime carafe is made of double-cut crystal from SAINT-LOUIS. In a beautiful cobalt blue, it is an antique model from the 1930s. The overlay technique is a specialty of Saint-Louis: a first layer of clear crystal is covered with a second coloured layer, which is then cut to reveal the underlying crystal. In a lovely navy blue, this carafe is adorned with a diagonal cut topped with a frieze of stars. It is a model similar to the Metra service from Saint-Louis (see 1930 catalogue Pl 28 and 20). The original stopper is present - the carafe and stopper are numbered '10'. Not signed, it is in very good condition and measures 31.5 cm in height X 7.5 cm in diameter. I note some signs of use.
