Old gondola armchair

Louis-Philippe period gondola armchair, traditionally made in France (circa 1850). Structure in solid walnut with a beautiful original patina, preserving the charm of the old. Curved, enveloping backrest in a semi-circle. The armrests continue seamlessly with superb rolled finishes. Base: Front legs crafted in turned wood (baluster pattern); rear legs in sabre shape for excellent stability. Very comfortable and firm seat (dense padding on springs), upholstered in a sky blue jacquard fabric with small gold yellow patterns, highlighted by an elegant matching piping. In very good overall condition. The fabric is very clean and stain-free. The wood shows a beautiful natural patina with slight signs of wear and traces of time that add to its charm. The seat has been cleaned and treated. Ideal as a characterful office chair or to create a warm reading nook in a bedroom or living room. Seat height: 48 cm. Seat: 57 cm wide, 56 cm deep.
