Important Art Deco lamp in wrought iron and glass paste – France, circa 1920
Elegant and rare French Art Deco lamp from the 1920s, notable for the quality of its wrought iron frame and the presence of a superb glass paste dome. The finely crafted wrought iron structure features a rich floral decoration of blooming roses and stylised leaves, with lines that are both supple and architectural, typical of the decorative vocabulary of the transitional Art Deco period. The metalwork, both sculptural and balanced, showcases a high level of artisanal craftsmanship. The glass paste dome, with warm orange-yellow hues, diffuses a soft and enveloping light. Its marbled texture and colour palette strongly evoke the productions of the great glassmakers from Lorraine in the early 20th century and can be associated with the workshops of Daum, Muller Frères, or Schneider (unsigned attribution). The lamp is presented in very good condition, fully restored with new electrification, respecting its integrity and original aesthetics. A decorative piece of great presence, ideal for enhancing a refined interior, whether classic or contemporary, and a beautiful example of the dialogue between glass art and wrought iron art in France during the 1920s.
