Very beautiful stoneware pitcher by Michel Anasse (1935-2020), a French ceramist and sculptor associated with the revival of ceramics in Vallauris. This piece features an elegant silhouette with a generously rounded body, topped with a long flared neck. Its finely shaped spout and circular handle give it an original look, both functional and sculptural. Its remarkable cream-white glazing, generously speckled with dark brown, creates a graphic and natural decor. The variations in texture and the contrasts between the two colors highlight the volumes and give a lot of character to this piece. Michel Anasse (1935-2020) is a figure in the revival of post-war French ceramics. After discovering clay work in the early 1950s, he trained in throwing in Vallauris under Robert Auguste. In 1956, he founded the Issarts workshop there with his wife Nicole Anasse (1937-2012). Together, they developed an original production of stoneware and sculptural pieces, favoring free forms, research on glazes, and wood firings. Their work has been exhibited in France and abroad. A beautiful collectible piece, representative of the creative freedom of Vallauris ceramists in the 1950s-1960s. Dimensions: Height: 20 cm. Diameter: 14 cm. Length: 23 cm. Signed Anasse.
