Swedish glazed ceramic table lamp by Marian Zawadzki for Tilgmans Keramik, 1957

This high-quality glazed ceramic table lamp was designed by the Polish ceramist Marian Zawadzki (1912-1978)in 1957, who worked for Tilgmans Keramik in Sweden. Zawadzki's work became exemplary for the company's product line during the 1950s. Using the sgraffito technique, Marian Zawadzki carved thin lines into his designs, giving his work a unique texture. The fine ceramic base features a graphic representation of a horse, its rider, and floral decor. The elegant lamp comes with the original fabric shade, which displays a hand-crafted filigree decor of blades of grass. This piece is in excellent original condition. Ceramic base diameter: 13 cm.
