Desk, English writing desk with glass-fronted bookcase

Hello, I am offering this two-piece writing desk with a cylinder drawer, crafted from solid wood and mahogany veneer. The upper section features two lockable glass doors, perfect for use as a bookcase. The glass is framed by raised interior moldings reminiscent of basket handles. The interior is fitted with three adjustable shelves mounted on adjustable rails. In the center of this piece, you'll find a lockable cylinder drawer. The interior contains six drawers (24 x 15 x 5 cm) in light walnut burl, framing four compartments adorned with attractive carved wood details. This work area also includes a retractable top that extends up to 30 cm deep. In the center, it reveals a writing surface with adjustable tilt, covered in leather with gilt edges. On each side, there is a matching panel and a secret pen compartment on the right. The lower section of this piece consists of two solid-panel doors, one of which is missing its lock, with frames similar to those of the upper section. The whole is topped with a simply molded cornice. Note that this piece can be disassembled into two parts, making it easy to transport and set up. The multifunctionality of this bookcase/desk is a definite plus. This two-part unit offers ample storage capacity while maintaining a certain elegance, particularly thanks to the narrowness of its upper section. Period: early 20th century, cabinetmaking quality.
