Coming from a 19th century parisian workshop, this rare louis XVI desk in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer is composed of a cylinder covered with brass ogee rods. This cylinder is notable for its two mahogany colors. It is decorated with two side handles and a working lock accompanied by its pearl key. Inside, a sliding shelf is trimmed in green leather with gold vignette. We find three small drawers with brass knobs and three niches. In addition, this desk has a large belt drawer and large grooves inlaid with brass on its uprights. It rests on four sheathed feet with brass-plated grooves, collar in the upper part and ball shoe in the lower part. The upper part of this office is made up of a window opening with three doors decorated with interior brass moldings surrounding beveled windows. These doors all have working keys and locks. The sides of this piece of furniture are also glazed. On top, a large antique marble from the north is surrounded by an openwork gallery highlighted by a drapery. Below, three small drawers with brass knobs and moldings complete this elegant and refined piece of furniture. ******** period: mid-19th century.
