Although part of everyday life, stools as well as chairs are generally tribal art in africa. They can have ritual significance and be associated with various ceremonies. The word "zindi" is an invitation to sit in mooré, the most spoken language of burkina faso, especially by the mossi who constitute the main tribe. Sign of the currents and influences that cross sub-saharan africa, these six-legged stools in bronze collection are also found in nigeria, among the nupés. Wooden stools, usually polychrome with conical legs, were offered by their husbands to young brides.
