Oil portrait, painted in 1916 and signed lower right by Joseph Auguste Brunetton. Some missing parts, but nonetheless a very beautiful piece. Joseph-Auguste Brunetton (1863-1923) Born in Lyon on February 11, 1863, Joseph-Auguste Brunetton enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts, where he studied under Michel Dumas (1812-1885). He then moved to Paris, where he became a student of Gustave Boulanger (1824-1888) at the École des Beaux-Arts and also attended the Julian Academy. In the 1880s, he exhibited portraits at the Société des Amis des Arts de Lyon and subsequently presented works at the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts. A portraitist, interior painter, and still life artist, his work also includes numerous landscapes full of nuances of light. He died in Paris in 1923.
