Condition: Good. Wear corresponds to age and use. An authentic Japanese choba-dansu (帳場箪笥) from the Meiji/Taishō period (circa 1890-1920). This type of furniture was traditionally used in shops and businesses to store accounting documents, seals, tools, and valuable items. Made from Japanese sugi wood with original wrought iron fittings, it retains an extraordinary patina and natural signs of use that reflect its history and authenticity. The arrangement of the small drawers and the large bottom drawer demonstrates a clear organisational function, typical of Japanese commercial furniture from the late 19th century. A piece with a strong aesthetic presence and significant historical interest, perfect for wabi-sabi, japandi interior design projects or contemporary spaces seeking character and authenticity.
