Pair of Art Deco Bookends in Black Metal and Veined Marble, 1920

A pair of Art Deco bookends from Belgium, made around 1920. Each bookend consists of a black metal block on a base of veined marble in purple and beige tones. The strong geometric lines and the contrast between the black metal and the colourful marble are typical of the Art Deco period. A decorative and practical pair for a bookcase, desk or sideboard. Condition: good, with a small chip on the top edge of one black block.
