Grand Tribal Qashqai Carpet (Iran) – 343 X 237 cm – 1.3 Million Knots. A monumental hand-knotted piece (1980-90) made from pure natural wool. This 20 kg carpet represents a colossal effort: approximately 1.3 million knots made one by one by a craftswoman, amounting to months of uninterrupted labour. Far from the petrochemical industry, it is a testament to resilience and ancestral know-how. A sacred and symbolic decor: The vibrant red field features three medallions and a scattering of stylised animals and birds. Rich palette: nuanced reds, ivory, orange, pink, and black. A soul, not a new product: A living work of art with a superb "vintage" patina: its natural central discolouration from the sun and the wear of the fringes authenticate its tribal origin and history.
