Guaranteed crush for this superb vintage ceramic bowl, a true testament to the craftsmanship of the Vallauris workshops from the 1960s. It stands out with its captivating expressionist decor (characteristic of the Atelier La Roue): a stylised flower resembling a sun or thistle, hand-painted in a vibrant gradient of fiery red and orange-yellow. The contrast is enhanced by two turquoise leaves and a speckled textured background, reminiscent of the mineral effect of foam or volcanic rock. Its free and slightly irregular shape adds to its artisanal charm. This handcrafted piece possesses an incredible charm and a strong graphic presence. A lovely decorative item that can serve as a catch-all, jewellery dish, small decorative bowl, or simply be displayed as a collector's item. I particularly love its mix of earthy tones, red, orange, and turquoise, which is very easy to integrate into vintage, seventies, Mediterranean, or more contemporary decor. Ideal placed on a Scandinavian sideboard, a travertine coffee table, or used as a chic catch-all in an entrance. The black handwritten signature "Vallauris" directly on the terracotta under the base is perfectly authentic and typical of the artisanal productions of the 1960s. In very good overall vintage condition with a superb original patina. Note a tiny superficial chip on the heel (under the piece, completely invisible once placed) which does not affect its solidity or aesthetics. Maximum diameter: 15 cm. Height: 4 cm. Weight: 300 g.
