We are delighted to offer for sale this rare and highly collectible Victorian Scottish captain's chair in mahogany, featuring a green leather backrest and original porcelain castors. The chair is truly stunning, large and imposing, with a flamed mahogany seat base that has a warm and rich patina. The backrest is made of inherited green leather, upholstered in the Regency style with Chesterfield tufting. The chair has been lightly restored with a deep clean, hand-applied conditioning wax, and manual polishing. It shows normal patina related to its age and use for a piece of furniture over 140 years old. The dimensions are height: 85 cm, width: 62 cm, depth: 72 cm, seat height: 43.5 cm. Please note that all measurements have been taken at the widest points. For any additional or specific measurements, please ask. The condition is good with wear consistent with age and use, including slight discolouration. Please note that vintage items such as leather seats will always have a natural patina in the form of cracks, creases, and wear. It is recommended to regularly wax to preserve the moisture of the leather. Hand-dyed leather is not recommended for prolonged exposure to direct sunlight as it would dry out and discolour.
