Narwa – Antique Indian red sandstone basin no. 1

This antique stone pot, called a kundi in India, was once used to store water in homes and village courtyards. Hand-carved from red sandstone, one of Rajasthan's traditional stones, this pot has a circular shape and thick walls that kept its contents cool. Two handles carved from the stone allowed for safe carrying when full. Use it as a basin in a bathroom (drainage will need to be drilled) or as an outdoor planter. Due to the natural variations in the stone, each pot is unique. Dimensions: H 11cm X W 43cm X D 34cm. Material(s): Red sandstone. Origin: Rajasthan, India. Period: 19th century.
