Here is a lovely stoneware dish from Puisaye with a charmingly curved shape and a beautiful glaze blending soft and comforting tones: beige, caramel, and chocolate, typical materials and colours of the 1970s. It is the result of fine artisanal work in turning and glazing by the ceramist Jean-Pierre Prud’homme in the 1970s. This dish is signed JP underneath and is part of a very large service by Prud’homme that I am offering for sale here in several lots. It may have originally had a lid, but it will still be perfect for presenting soup, vegetables, or crudités on a lovely table; it can also serve as an original catch-all. Jean-Pierre Prud’homme founded a handmade pottery workshop with his wife in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from Nièvre (stoneware from Puisaye). This workshop still exists today, run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s and 2000s and also creates very beautiful ceramics. This dish dates from the 1970s and is in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, or even a scratch; it has probably never been used. It measures 27 cm in width including the handles, approximately 21 cm in maximum diameter, and 8.5 cm in height.
